Actually, I took some other pictures when we went swimming at his hotel's pool, but it was with one of those ancient artifacts that actually use film. I have to wait a week to see if any of them turned out. We had a great time with Papa and were sad to see him go. Nana is coming on Tuesday, though, and then the fun will begin anew!
We also went geocaching again. This time we found two out of four, which is pretty good. We couldn't find the first, but the second was at an old abandoned lodge building.
And there was this picture nailed to a post. I don't know who put it there or why, but I'm glad they did so that I could wonder.
As we were trying to leave, a cop car pulled into the parking lot. Officer Williams asked us what we were doing, and I was pretty relieved when he showed recognition of the term "geocache." We didn't have anything to hide, so he just asked us some questions, wrote down our descriptions and let us go. Apparently they've had problems with transients in that building. He called for two other officers to come help him clear out the building, though, since Dan had seem someone around the back moving pallets.
The funniest part is that while we were leaving, a van pulled up and stopped to talk to us. The woman leaned over and said she was sorry for being a nosy neighbor, but had we been geocaching? We told her what happened and she said, "Oh...we're the ones who placed that geocache!" I am still kicking myself for not getting a picture of her to fully document the afternoon.
There were two more in a nearby park. We didn't find the first, but I found the second. I think that's the first one I've spotted before Dan. I was pretty proud of myself. We asked a girl walking her dog to take a picture of the three of us. I think she was confused when she asked what we wanted to get in the picture and I held up a piece of rusty garbage.

What lens did you use for the picture of dad? It looks kind of like a wide angle.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, glad you guys didn't get a ticket! When I saw that picture of the police officer on flickr I was worried. So geocaching is more about the hunt than the items you find?
ReplyDeleteAmy: It's just my regular lens with the f stop high.
ReplyDeleteJessa: Yeah, the stuff you find geocaching is just silly, if there's anything at all. Some are just containers with paper in them to sign showing that you found it, others have little trinkets. Come on out here and we'll take you!
