The Farm

We have an awesome neighbor. I've only met him once or twice and he doesn't say much, but here is his ride:

That's pretty cool, but it's not what makes him so awesome. Here is his massive dog:

We love Mowgli, but he's not what makes this guy so cool either. Is it the birds?

The exotic birds are pretty, but they are not the most awesome thing there.

Is it the crazy bushy sheep and its babies that are no bigger than a chicken?

Nope. The goats?

The llamas?

The Scottish Highland cows?

It's not even the emu that I didn't get a picture of.

This guy has, I kid you not, kangaroos.

G'day.

Rex Lee Run 2011

Last Saturday, Dan and I participated in the Rex Lee Run. We both did the 5k.

Amy was nice enough to use up her Saturday morning to watch Anda and take some pictures of us.

Anda had a good time with her balloon that Amy painstakingly removed from a giant knot of balloons.

I had a general goal to come in under 30 minutes this year and a specific goal to beat my 2007 time by 7 minutes. I finished 326th overall (out of 1356) and 10th in my division (out of 144) with a gun time of 29:44.5 and a chip time of 28:11.1. In 2007 my time was 35:47.28, so if we're going by chip time, mission totally accomplished.

This is me looking like a jerk who's trying to beat these people to the finish. I'm actually just trying to beat the clock, which was displayed at the finish line.

Here is Dan being cheered on by a sasquatch and at the finish line. His gun time was 22:46.3 and his chip time was 22:25.8.

I'm not sure what his specific goals were for this year, but he came in 73rd overall and won first place in his division!

We were all very proud.

Cancer can go to hell. That's the Carter family motto.

Smarty McSmarterson

Anda has been learning lots of new things these past few months. I think she's just about ready for kindergarten. (I know I am sometimes...)

Here she is rehearsing after waking up from her nap.

Here she is counting, naming colors, and singing her ABCs.

I hate 6 and 7 too. They are the worst.

And here she is identifying some letters. I think she knows about 20 of them for sure, but it's hard to get her to sit still long enough to check. That alphabet is long!

I am really hoping her next accomplishment involves depositing her waste in a toilet instead of her pants. Or trigonometry. I'd accept either one.
